Rubberneck

This was part of a show at the Manuel Izquierdo Gallery at PNCA. called Re-Run that consisted of two video installations. Clearcut and Rubberneck. Both pieces concerned themselves with changes going on in the landscape of inner NW Portland. The land was changing from a railyard to a high-end neighborhood. PNCA was only 2 blocks away from the events in each installation.

Rubberneck consisted of 2 super comfy easy chairs, 2 space heaters, overhead heat lamps, a fur rug, an old t.v. console missing it's tube, and within that space their was a fake burning log with a smaller TV on top of it. The loop consisted of a four-alarm fire that was consuming one of the new condo developments in the area.  It was February in Portland, damp and dark. The warm orange glow and warmth had the chairs filled all day and night.

The above photos were taken at Elizabeth Leach Gallery, where Rubberneck was later shown.
